Angela Buford

At the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Angela Buford leads the Reactor Vessels and Internals Branch, which is responsible for issues related to materials properties, structural integrity, aging, and license renewal.  Angela was previously the Chief of the Mechanical Engineering Branch, the Vessel and Head Penetrations Branch, and Acting Deputy Director of the Division of Reactor Oversight at the US NRC.  She also served as a structural engineer in the agency's Division of Engineering and External Hazards.  Prior to joining the NRC, Angela was a structural engineer with several engineering consulting firms, most notably with the World Trade Center memorial and transit center. She received her Master's degree from Columbia University and her Bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland, both in Structural Engineering.
