Early Site Permit - North Anna Site

Dominion Nuclear North Anna, LLC submitted its application for an early site permit (ESP) for the North Anna site on September 25, 2003. Revision 9 to the ESP application was the final revision of the application submitted on September 12, 2006. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) approved the application and issued the North Anna ESP on November 27, 2007. 

On July 14, 2026, Virginia Electric and Power Company (doing business as Dominion Energy Virginia) submitted an application to renew the ESP, along with an exemption and notification of the deferral of the North Anna Unit 3 combined license.

North Anna Early Site Permit

On November 27, 2007, the NRC issued the North Anna ESP for a site located approximately 40 miles north-northwest of Richmond, Virginia.

On January 30, 2013, the NRC issued a revised ESP Amendment 3.

Early Site Permit Safety Evaluation Report

NUREG-1835, containing the safety evaluation report for the North Anna ESP Application, was issued in September 2005, followed by Supplement 1 to NUREG-1835 in November 2006.
