Grand Gulf Site, Early Site Permit Renewal Application
On September 24, 2025, Entergy Operations, Inc. (Entergy), on behalf of System Energy Resources, Inc. (SERI), resubmitted a request for exemption from 10 CFR 52.29(a) and renewal of the Grand Gulf Early Site Permit (ESP‑002) for an additional 20 years.
By letter dated December 17, 2025, the NRC acknowledged receipt of the renewal application and plans to complete an acceptance review. The NRC published a notice of receipt in the Federal Register on December 29, 2025 (90 FR 60763, FR Document: 2025-23843).
On January 22, 2026, the NRC accepted the Grand Gulf ESP renewal application for review. On January 27, 2026, the NRC published a notice in the Federal Register accepting the Grand Gulf Site ESP renewal application for docketing and offering an opportunity to request a hearing and to petition for leave to intervene (91 FR 3550, FR Document 2026-01470). The renewed permit would allow a construction permit or combined license application to reference the ESP for an additional 20 years specified in the current permit. The current permit expires on April 5, 2027.
