TH20 United States, Canada, and United Kingdom Small Modular Reactors and Advanced Reactor Trilateral Cooperation

The trilateral memorandum of cooperation between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, and the United Kingdom’s Office for Nuclear Regulation has yielded substantive, tangible results on small modular reactor and advanced reactor licensing and can serve as a model for multilateral regulatory collaboration on new reactors. This session will provide an opportunity for the regulatory bodies in each country to outline the value of their cooperation and how this engagement works within their respective regulatory frameworks. Representatives from GE-Hitachi and the Tennessee Valley Authority (or Ontario Power Generation) will provide a utility and vendor perspective on the benefits of this cooperation and lessons learned to date.
