Gregory Bowman

Gregory T. Bowman serves as Director, Division of Physical and Cyber Security Policy, Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response.

Mr. Bowman began his career at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in 2002 as a reactor inspector and resident inspector in Region I. He transferred to NRC Headquarters in 2007, where he served in progressively more responsible positions, including Reactor Operations Engineer in the NRR, Senior Enforcement Specialist in the Office of Enforcement, and Executive Technical Assistant in the Office of the Executive Director for Operations.

Mr. Bowman was selected to be the Branch Chief for the Research and Test Reactors Oversight Branch in 2012 and has held a number of management positions since that time, including Branch Chief and Acting Deputy Director in NRR's Japan Lessons Learned Division and Division of Policy and Rulemaking. He was also the Branch Chief for Reactor Assessment and Human Factors Branch in the Division of Inspection and Regional Support (DIRS), NRR. Prior to his current position, Mr. Bowman served in the Senior Executive Service positions of Deputy Director of DIRS, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR); Deputy Director of the Division of Risk Assessment, NRR; and Director of the Vogtle Project Office, NRR.

Before joining the NRC, Mr. Bowman spent four years as a Training Engineer and Supervisor at the Navy's Nuclear Power Training Unit in Charleston, SC. He holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Virginia.   He is a graduate of the NRC's Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program.
