Project Overview

The staff of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is currently conducting a detailed technical review of the Carbon Free Power Project, LLC (CFPP) application for a Limited Work Authorization (LWA). CFPP has filed an application with the NRC for an LWA to begin certain construction activities that would otherwise require a combined license. CFPP plans to submit a combined license application to the NRC in January 2024 to construct and operate a 6-module nuclear power plant of NuScale US460 VOYGR design to be located at the Department of Energy’s Idaho National Laboratory, Idaho Falls, Idaho.

For additional detail, see the CFPP LWA application.
