TH24 Paving the Way for Advanced Manufacturing in Nuclear Components
Advanced Manufacturing Technologies (AMTs) have the potential to produce high quality components for application to nuclear power plants, while enhancing the performance of currently operating plants and advanced reactors. AMTs also have the potential to provide replacement parts within an efficient timeframe for obsolete components. This session will be focused on the near-term potential, as well as challenges, for the implementation of advanced manufactured components into currently operating reactors as well as advanced reactor designs (excluding ATF). Topics in the discussion will include codes and standards implementation, qualification challenges, and implementation lessons learned from both nuclear and other industries.
