The Office of Public Affairs assists the Chairman in carrying out his or her responsibilities as principal spokesperson for the NRC. OPA manages and directs the agency's public affairs program, providing advice to agency officials and developing key strategies that contribute to increasing public confidence.

The NRC’s Office of International Programs (OIP) serves as the agency’s focal point for all international nuclear regulatory activities, providing cross-office coordination and policy guidance on global nuclear safety, security, safeguards, and nonproliferation issues. It advises the NRC Chairman, Commissioners, and staff on international matters and recommends policies for nuclear exports and imports, international safeguards, physical security, nonproliferation, and international cooperation in nuclear safety and radiation protection.

The Executive Director for Operations (EDO) is the Chief Operational Officer of the agency and is authorized and directed to discharge all regulatory and administrative functions necessary for the day-to-day operations of the agency. The EDO is responsible for supervising, directing, coordinating, and approving activities within the Office of the Executive Director for Operations (OEDO) and the offices that report to the EDO. This includes supervising and coordinating policy development, agency operational activities, and implementation of Commission policy directives. 

Conducts hearings for the Commission and performs such other regulatory functions as the Commission authorizes. The Chief Administrative Judge develops and applies procedures governing the activities of boards and administrative judges, and makes appropriate recommendations to the Commission concerning the rules governing the conduct of hearings.

The office includes the four regional locations (Regions I-IV), operating reactor oversight program functions, enforcement and allegation program functions, and investigation functions.

The Office of Advanced Reactors (OAR) leads and implements all agency activities associated with enabling the safe deployment of advanced reactor technologies, providing integrated regulatory leadership across project management, technical reviews, pre-operational oversight, and regulatory program development.
