CJ Fong
CJ Fong is the Deputy Head of the NEA’s Division of Nuclear Safety Technology and Regulation. In that capacity, he oversees the NEA’s efforts to improve regulatory cooperation among its member countries with the ultimate goal of improving nuclear safety.
Prior to joining the NEA in January 2020, CJ spent 18 years at the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission in a variety of inspection, licensing, and policy-related roles. His most Regulatory Commission in a variety of inspection, licensing, and policy-related roles. recent assignment on the staff was as the Branch Chief for PRA Oversight in NRR. He also served as a Technical Assistant to Commissioner Wright and as an acting Technical Assistant to Chairman Svinicki.
CJ is a licensed professional engineer and holds a Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering from Georgia Tech and a Master's Degree in Nuclear Engineering (with PRA focus) from MIT,where he completed his thesis under the advisement of Dr. George Apostolakis. CJ and his wife, Elizabeth, have three children: Elise, Peter, and Wesley.
