Darrell Roberts

Darrell Roberts was assigned to his current position as Regional Administrator, Region III, in December 2018.

Mr. Roberts joined the NRC in 1989, where he has served in a number of progressively more responsible positions, including Reactor Engineer in Region II; Resident Inspector at Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Station; Senior Resident Inspector at Catawba Nuclear Station; Technical Assistant to the Office Director in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation; Chief, Plant Licensing Branch B in the Division of Operating Reactor Licensing; and Chief, Operator Licensing and Human Performance Branch in the Division of Construction Inspection Programs in the Office of New Reactors.

In 2008, Mr. Roberts was appointed Deputy Director, Division of Reactor Safety (DRS), Region I; and in 2009, he was promoted to the position of DRS Division Director.  Mr. Roberts was assigned DRP Division Director in January 2011. In 2014, he was promoted to Deputy Regional Administrator, Region III.

Mr. Roberts graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, and from Johns Hopkins University with an M.S. degree in Technical Management.  Prior to joining the NRC, Mr. Roberts co-oped while at Virginia Tech as an engineer-in-training at Dominion Energy’s North Anna Power Station.  He is a 2004 graduate of the NRC Leadership Potential Program and completed the NRC’s Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program in 2007.  Mr. Roberts is a recipient of the NRC Meritorious Service Award.
