Division of Spent Fuel Management Regulatory Conference 2019 (DSFM REG CON)

The Division of Spent Fuel Management held its annual Regulatory Conference (REG CON) on Tuesday, September 17 and Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at the Crowne Plaza Philadelphia-King of Prussia, 260 Mall Boulevard, King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. The REG CON was hosted by the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards (NMSS), Division of Spent Fuel Management.

This event provided an opportunity for NRC staff, industry representatives, licensees, and other stakeholders to openly discuss regulatory issues of mutual interest related to spent fuel licensing, aging management, extended storage and transportation, stakeholder perspectives, inspections and operating experiences.

The REG CON hosted over 160 attendees representing government, industry, and other spent fuel industry stakeholders from the United States and other countries.

Effective October 13, 2019, the Division of Spent Fuel Management merged with the Division of Fuel Cycle Safety, Safeguards and Environmental Review to form the Division of Fuel Management (DFM).

In 2020, topics that would otherwise be discussed at REG CON will be considered for public meetings or workshops throughout the year.

Starting in 2021, the REG CON will be incorporated into the NRC’s annual Regulatory Information Conference (RIC).
