Certificates and Revised Format for Reactor Operator and Senior Reactor Operator Licenses (Generic Letter No. 83-06)
UNITED STATES
NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION
WASHINGTON, D. C. 20555
January 31, 1983
TO: ALL POWER REACTOR LICENSEES, APPLICANTS FOR OPERATING LICENSES,
NSS VENDORS, REACTOR VENDORS AND ARCHITECT-ENGINEERS
SUBJECT: CERTIFICATES AND REVISED FORMAT FOR REACTOR OPERATOR AND SENIOR
REACTOR OPERATOR LICENSES (GENERIC LETTER NO. 83-06)
In October 1982, the Commission approved a proposal to issue Certificates to
Reactor Operators and Senior Reactor Operators. These Certificates will be
suitable for framing and will be issued to all present and future Reactor
Operators and Senior Reactor Operators.
At the time of the original licensing, and at license renewal, a standard
letter will be sent to each licensed individual, as well as to the plant
management, providing details of the license. This letter will constitute
that person's authorization to perform licensed duties.
The nuclear industry has long recognized that obtaining an RO or SRO license
constitutes a significant technical achievement to which one can point with
pride. We hope these Certificates will be a small step in fostering a sense
of professionalism and pride in these very critical positions.
Sincerely,
Darrell G. Eisenhut, Director
Division of Licensing
Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation
