Part 21 Notification - Westinghouse Breaker Overhaul Work

This report is being made per 10CFR21(d) (3)(i), Reporting of Defects and Noncompliance.

During performance of a comprehensive investigation of Westinghouse supplied DB-50 breakers, it was determined that low trip bar forces, and winding of the trip pan spring contributed to breaker miss-operation which might have resulted in the breakers malfunctioning when called upon to perform their safety related function. These breaker anomalies were previously reported to the NRC order LER 97-024.
