ROP Update Schedule

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission provides oversight to the operating reactors within the United States. The Agency provides periodic updates in several areas: Plant Summaries, Performance Indicators, Inspection Findings, Inspection Reports, Action Matrix, Assessment Letters, Cross Cutting Issues, and ROP Effectiveness Reports. The respective update frequency is delineated in the table below. Nominally, quarterly reports are updated on the website in January, April, August, and November; semi-annual reports are updated on the website in April and August; and annual reports are in April. The schedule is as follows:

Product Update Periodicity
Plant Summaries Quarterly
Performance Indicators Quarterly
Inspection Reports Quarterly*
Inspection Findings Quarterly**
Action Matrix Monthly***
Assessment Letters Semi-Annually****
Cross Cutting Issues Semi-Annually
ROP Effectiveness Reports Annual

*Routine inspections are updated on a quarterly basis. Other inspections (such as supplemental and team inspections) are updated per their respective inspection procedure.

**Inspection findings from routine inspections are updated on a quarterly basis. Other inspection findings are updated per their respective inspection procedure.

***The Action Matrix is updated within a month after the issuance of the assessment letter or assessment follow-up letter moving the plant to a new action matrix column.

****Assessment Letters include inspection plans and are issued for all plants after the completion of the second calendar quarter (2Q) and fourth calendar quarter (4Q) respectively. A subset of Assessment Letters called Assessment Follow-up Letters are issued for those plants that crossed the action matrix performance thresholds and they are posted to the web within a month of issuance.

NOTE: During the mid-year of 2001, the yearly ROP cycles were changed to align with the calendar year. As a result, all letters shifted back by one quarter. For example, the Annual Assessment Letters shifted from the first quarter (1Q) of a given year to the fourth quarter (4Q) of the previous year, and all other letters shifted accordingly.
