TH19 Driving the Future of Transportation in a Changing Landscape of Advanced Fuels and Technologies

In this session, participants will be engaged on the fundamentals of the transportation certification process, understand the future landscape of transporting spent nuclear fuel, accident tolerant fuel, high-enriched fuel and advanced nuclear fuel; and discover how stakeholders are shaping the future of transportation safety and the benefits of international engagements. The session will also cover how the NRC is advancing in this area by adopting a risk methodology to evaluate a transportation package of a transportable nuclear power plant for domestic highway shipment (SECY-24-0062), and how the NRC is preparing for the first shipment of this novel technology. This session provides the opportunity for participants to hear from stakeholders in the NRC, the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Department of Transportation, and international counterparts.
