Erica Bickford

Dr. Erica Bickford is the Director for the Office of Storage & Transportation within the US Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Nuclear Energy's Office of Spent Fuel & High-Level Waste Disposition. She is responsible for planning, policy, and implementation of a Federal consolidated interim storage facility for commercial spent nuclear fuel, including associated large-scale transportation, as well as spent nuclear fuel storage and transportation R&D.  She previously also led the program's work on consent-based siting. For seven years she led the program's work to assess operational considerations for future large-scale spent nuclear fuel transport alongside intergovernmental engagement with Tribal, State, and Federal entities on DOE's transportation plans. Dr. Bickford has a PhD and MS from the University of Wisconsin-Madison; and a BS from the University of Maine.
