James Beardsley

Jim Beardsley is the Chief of the Cyber Security Branch in the US NRC’s Division of Physical and Cyber Security Policy, Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response (NSIR).  His responsibilities include the management of cyber policy, rulemaking and oversight for NRC licensees.

Mr. Beardsley joined the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in 2004 as a Security Specialist in the NSIR, Security Performance Evaluation Branch.  He was selected as a Force-on-Force Team Leader in 2006.  In 2010, Mr. Beardsley transferred to the Office of New Reactors (NRO) as Chief of the Construction Inspection Program Branch.  He has also completed rotations as the Security Policy Advisor for Chairman Jaczko and the Chief of the NRO Planning Optimization Branch.  Prior to joining the NRC, Mr. Beardsley worked for General Dynamics Electric Boat and as a nuclear-trained Navy officer.  He earned a bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Rochester and master's degrees in Business Administration & Systems Engineering from George Mason University. He is a graduate of the NRC’s Team Leader Development Program.  Mr. Beardsley is also a Captain in the US Navy Reserve.
