David Lew

Mr. Lew was assigned to his current position as Deputy Regional Administrator, Region I, in January 2011.  He was appointed to the Senior Executive Service (SES) in February 2004 and his previous SES assignments included Director, Division of Reactor Projects (DRP), Region I, Deputy Director, DRP, in Region 1, and Chief, Probabilistic Risk Assessment Branch, in the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research.

Mr. Lew joined the NRC in 1987 as an Operator Licensing Examiner in the Region II office; however, he spent most of his NRC career in Region I where he held progressively more responsible positions.  These positions included assignments as Resident Inspector at Oyster Creek and Indian Point 2, Senior Project Engineer, Senior Resident Inspector at Indian Point 3, and Branch Chief in the Divisions of Reactor Safety and Reactor Projects.  He also served in several temporary assignments including technical assistant on the staff of Chairman Shirley Jackson, and various management positions in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Nuclear Regulatory Research and Region I.

Prior to joining the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Mr. Lew spent five years in the Navy’s Nuclear Power Program as a submarine officer.  He received a Bachelor’s degree from Columbia College in 1982.
