Robert Kahler

Robert Kahler is the Branch Chief of the Inspection and Regulatory Improvements Branch in the Division of Preparedness and Response within the Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response. He began working for the NRC in 2001 as an emergency preparedness specialist before becoming a branch chief, a position he has held for the past five years.

Mr. Kahler has an extensive background in emergency preparedness. He began his career in the nuclear industry as a reactor operator at the Shippingport Atomic Power Station and proceeded to work at Beaver Valley Power Station Units 1 and 2 as a senior reactor operator, senior reactor operator instructor, and an emergency preparedness manager. Before working at the NRC, he worked as an operations instructor at the Westinghouse Waltz Mill training facility.

Mr. Kahler has a degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a degree in Human Resources from Geneva College. He also holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Point Park University.
