Ralph Butler

Ralph A. Butler began his work at MURR in 2000 as Chief Operating Officer and was named Director of the MURR Center one year later. He currently holds the position of Executive Director.

As Executive Director, Butler works with a dedicated group of 193 full and part time employees to ensure the MURR facility remains a unique national resource. Butler directs MURR’s three-fold mission of promoting interdisciplinary research, creating educational opportunities for students, and providing irradiation and isotope production services to researchers, medical institutions, and private companies worldwide.

Butler has over 35 years of experience in the management, oversight and operation of military, commercial and U.S. Department of Energy facilities, both domestic and international. A registered professional engineer and former U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission licensed senior reactor operator, Butler received his B.S. degree in Engineering Management from the Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly the University of Missouri-Rolla) and his M.S. degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Missouri.
