Peter W. Smith

Peter W. Smith is the Director of Licensing and Engineering in the Major Enterprise Projects organization of DTE Energy, a diversified energy company serving over 3.3 million electric and gas utility customers in Michigan. DTE Energy is a Detroit-based diversified energy company involved in the development and management of energy­related businesses and services nationwide.  He is responsible for all aspects of the design and licensing of DTE Energy's proposed Fermi 3 Nuclear Power Plant, a 1,500-megawatt Economic Simplified Boiling Water Reactor (ESBWR) to be located in Newport, Michigan.

Peter previously served in various staff and management positions in the engineering and licensing organizations at Fermi 2.  In addition, he has held various staff and management  positions in engineering and licensing at the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station and the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station.

Peter earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada and a master's degree in chemical engineering from University of Toledo.  He is a registered professional engineer in the Province of Ontario.
