Stephen Martin Napiecek

Steve Napiecek is vice president and general manager of Newport News Industrial (NNI) Corp., a subsidiary of Huntington Ingalls Industries.

Named to this position in 2010, Mr. Napiecek is responsible for all operations of NNI, including commercial nuclear and non-nuclear fabrication, construction and equipment services; technical services (engineering, shock analysis and test, lab testing, non-destructive test (NDT) examination, precision measurement, machinery control, and data acquisition); and of safety operations.

Previously, he was the program director for the CVN 78 and 79 programs, where he was responsible for all aspects of Gerald R. Ford Class aircraft carrier design and construction including managing schedule, technical, and quality aspects for design (non-nuclear), planning, material and construction.

Mr. Napiecek earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Duke University in 1985 and began his career at Newport News the same year as a Seawolf submarine piping engineer and has held a number of key positions, including Sealift ship design manager, waterfront engineering liaison manager, CVN 75 (USS Truman) Post Shakedown Availability (PSA) design manager, and CVNX deputy design manager.
