Alexander Klein

Alexander Klein is chief of the Fire Protection Branch in the Division of Risk Assessment in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation. He leads a technical staff of fire protection engineers who are working to close out a number of fire protection issues. Most recently, his staff was instrumental in the issuance of safety evaluations approving the transition to the risk-informed, performance-based fire protection rule, also known as NFPA-805. Before joining the NRC in 2003, Mr. Klein worked in the nuclear power industry and was the Lead Fire Protection Engineer for Yankee Atomic Electric Company. Mr. Klein holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and is a registered professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in both the fire protection and civil engineering disciplines.
