Due to a lapse in appropriations, the NRC has ceased normal operations. However, excepted and exempted activities necessary to maintain critical health and safety functions—as well as essential progress on designated critical activities, including those specified in Executive Order 14300—will continue, consistent with the OMB-Approved NRC Lapse Plan.

Region II Agreement State Complex Materials Sites Undergoing Decommissioning

Of the 38 complex materials sites that are currently undergoing decommissioning in the United States, 3 sites in Region II are regulated by the States of Florida, South Carolina, and Tennessee, which the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has designated as Agreement States. The map to the right illustrates the relative location of the site, and the table below provides a link to the description, which includes site status summary, any major technical or regulatory issues, and the estimated date for closure of the site.
