Abstract

This report presents and discusses the results of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s integral loss-of-coolant accident (LOCA) testing program conducted at Studsvik Nuclear AB in Sweden. In this program, refabricated, high burnup irradiated fuel rodlets were subjected to LOCA conditions. In total, six single-rod LOCA tests were conducted in the Hot Cell Laboratory at Studsvik Nuclear AB. This report documents the test conditions, rodlet response, and post-test examinations for all six tests. The purpose of this document is to make this information available for comparison to related or complementary experimental programs. The observations of fuel fragmentation, relocation, and dispersal in this experimental program may be of particular interest for comparison to related or complementary experimental programs.
