Abstract

This report is intended to be both a reference book and a textbook on statistical methods.  The material itself is organized into digestible segments, each exploring a particular method of applying statistics.  These segments, in turn, are collected into chapters, each of which examines a set of linked statistical ideas.  Many of the bite-sized segments contain examples of data which were encountered in—or simulated from—the application of statistics in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.  Because statistical ideas connect across all of our lives and interests, we also include a number of non-nuclear-regulation-related datasets.
