NRC TO MEET WITH SONGS TO DISCUSS SAFETY PERFORMANCE AT NUCLEAR POWER PLANT

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will meet with officials of Southern California Edison Co. on Monday, June 11, to discuss the results of NRC's annual assessment of safety performance at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station.

The meeting will be held at 4 p.m. in the Learning Center, Building E-50, at the site of the SONGS nuclear plant in San Clemente. The public is invited to observe the meeting. NRC officials will be available after the meeting to answer questions.

A letter sent from NRC Region IV to SCE, which addresses plant safety performance during the previous year and forms the basis of the meeting discussion, is available from the Region IV Office of Public Affairs or on the NRC web site. Current safety performance information for SONGS is available on the NRC web site.
