Discussion:

On Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at approximately 06:45 a.m., Millstone Unit 1 lost power to the spent fuel pool pumps when a transient caused the Flanders Line main breaker to open and automatically re-close. The licensee observed smoke, some arcing, and small flames on a utility pole located outside the protected area. The spent fuel pools pumps were returned to service when power was restored at 08:59 am.

During this short period no significant increase in spent fuel pool temperature occurred. It should be noted that the time to boil for the Unit 1 spent fuel pool is in excess of several days.
