Discussion:

This Morning Report provides updated information concerning confirmed outer diameter (OD) circumferential cracks in Unit 2 steam generator (SG) tubes. Unit 2 is currently in a scheduled refueling outage. The licensee has completed 100% eddy current testing (ECT) of SG hot leg tubes in all four SGs. The results of the ECT identified one tube in SG 1, two tubes in SG 2, three tubes in SG 3, and two tubes in SG 4 with OD cracking. All tubes were stabilized and plugged. Two tubes have been pulled in SG 2 for further analysis to determine the degradation mechanism.

The highest indication by ECT of thru-wall cracking was 38%. This tube was one of the two tubes pulled so the actual thru-wall percentage will not be known until analysis is complete.

This information is current as of 12:00 p.m. 5/10/2004.
