Subject: TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY NUCLEAR (TVAN) ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT
         ASSIGNMENT


Discussion:

On July 9, 2001, TVAN announced the following management assignment,
effective immediately:

Robert J. Beecken, Maintenance & Modifications Manager at the Watts Bar
Nuclear Plant, has been named Vice President of Nuclear Support in TVA
Nuclear.  Mr. Beecken succeeds Phil Reynolds, who recently was named to
the new position of Vice President of Operations Support in the Chief
Operating Officer organization.
