Subject: Completion of Planned Maintenance Outage

Discussion:

On May 10, 1999, Davis-Besse operators synchronized the plant main
generator to the electrical grid at 6:29 p.m. ending a planned
maintenance outage. The outage officially commenced on April 24, 1999,
when operators tripped the turbine main generator off-line. Major
activities completed during the outage included: repaired a reactor
coolant pump upper thrust bearing, replaced pressurizer code safety
valves, replaced the pressurizer power operated relief valve, replaced
letdown cooler rupture discs, replaced a containment air cooler motor,
and completed other plant material condition improvements. As of May 11,
1999 at 8:00 a.m., the plant was at approximately 80 percent power.

Regional Action:

The resident inspector staff monitored the outage activities and plant
startup.
