Christian Carrier

Mr. Christian Carrier is the Director of the New Major Facilities Licensing Division in the Directorate of Regulatory Improvement and Major Project Management at the CNSC.  Mr. Carrier has a bachelor in physics, masters in radiobiology, and graduate studies in Génie Énergétique (specialization in nuclear) from the École Polytechnique in Montreal (DESS).//Mr. Carrier is responsible for the initial licensing and related environmental assessments, from site preparation, construction, and early operation of new major nuclear projects in Canada, including nuclear reactors.  Mr. Carrier participates to international fora, including the Multi-national Design Evaluation Program (MDEP), and the Working Group on Regulation of New Reactors (WGRNR). Recent activities include the technical pre-licensing reviews, also known as Vendor Design reviews for a number of Small Modular Reactor Designs with potential deployment in Canada.
