Due to a lapse in appropriations, the NRC has ceased normal operations. However, excepted and exempted activities necessary to maintain critical health and safety functions—as well as essential progress on designated critical activities, including those specified in Executive Order 14300—will continue, consistent with the OMB-Approved NRC Lapse Plan.

Sara Rashad Al Saadi

Sara Al Saadi leads the regulatory oversight activities for the UAE Nuclear Power Plant in UAE, to ensure the safe and secure use of Nuclear Material and Nuclear Facilities. Her responsibilities as a nuclear safety director at FANR include managing the development and maintenance of regulations and guides, the licensing activities, the operational safety and safety assessments as well as the assurance of compliance through inspections and enforcement. Sara started her career at FNR in early 2010, where she served at the early stages of the startup of the UAE nuclear project since the site selection of the first nuclear power plant in UAE and continuing through the operations of the Barakah NPP units. Previous to her current post, Sara served as the Nuclear Security Department as Nuclear Security Director. Sara holds a master's degree in Science and Nuclear Engineering from Khalifa University with a minor in nuclear security, and a bachelor's degree of science in Chemical Engineering from UAE University.
