Matthew Emrich

Mr. Matthew (Matt) Emrich is the Chief of the Reactor Technology Training Branch (RTTB) at the NRC's Technical Training Center (TTC) in Chattanooga. He has served in this supervisory role since 2020.

Matt joined the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in 2011 as a senior reactor technology instructor at the TTC, specializing in boiling water reactor design and operations.  In addition to instructional duties, Matt also qualified as an Operator Licensing Examiner and frequently supported the administration of regional exams and continues to assist the NRR Operator Licensing and Human Factors Branch in the facilitation of the Operator Licensing Examiner training program.  Since joining the NRC, Matt has completed rotational assignments in the Office of the Executive Director for Operations as an Executive Technical Assistant, in the Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer as Acting Chief, Professional Development Branch, and as the Acting Chief in his current position.

Before joining the NRC, Matt was a Senior Reactor Operator-certified Senior Operations Instructor and exam developer at the James A. Fitzpatrick Nuclear Power Plant located near Oswego, NY.  He was also an engineer-qualified, submarine division officer onboard the USS Hartford (SSN-768) and enlisted nuclear Machinist's Mate when he first joined the U.S. Navy in 1996. Matt received his bachelor of science degree in science and technology studies from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY.
