Jason Kozal

Jason W. Kozal serves as the Director, Division of Operating Reactor Safety in NRC, Region III, and is a co-chair for the Palisades Restart Panel.

Mr. Kozal joined the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission in 2006 as a Headquarters Operations Officer (HOO) in the Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response. Since that time, he has served in a number of progressively more responsible positions, including: Senior Emergency Response Coordinator in the Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response, Chief of the Response Coordination Branch in Region IV, the Chief of Reactor Projects Branch C and Projects Branch A, in Region IV and Deputy Director, Division of Reactor Safety, Region III.

Before working for the NRC Mr. Kozal worked for the Exelon corporation and held a Senior Reactor Operator license and Shift Technical Advisor certification at the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating station.  Mr. Kozal served 8 years as a nuclear-trained enlisted submarine operator.

Mr. Kozal holds a bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management from The New School in New York City, New York and a bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering Technology from Thomas Edison University in Trenton, NJ.  He is a graduate of NRC's SES Candidate Development Program and a recipient of the NRC Meritorious Service Award.
