Christopher Cook

Dr. Christopher (Chris) Cook is a special assistant in the Division of Engineering, Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research at the NRC. During his 18 years at the NRC, Chris has worked in a variety of diverse roles as a permanent supervisor of technical branches ranging from the safety assessment of external natural hazards to digital instrumentation and controls and cyber security. He also worked as an Executive Technical Assistant in OEDO for much of Margie Doane's tenure as the NRC's EDO. Dr. Cook's technical expertise is the area of external natural hazard assessments at nuclear power plant sites, particularity the analysis of flood-related hazards and thermal impacts to the aquatic environment. Dr. Cook holds a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University, and master and doctorate degrees also in Civil Engineering from the University of California at Davis. He is licensed Professional Engineering in the State of Maryland.
