Aida Rivera-Varona

Ms. Aida Rivera-Varona serves as the Deputy Director, Division of Operating Reactor Licensing, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR). Ms. Rivera-Varona joined the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in 2002 in NRR as part of the Nuclear Safety Professional Development Program working as a Reactor Operations Engineer. Since then, she has served in various capacities, including as a Reactor Operations Engineer in the Office of New Reactors (NRO), Technical Assistant for Division of Construction Inspection Program (DCIP) in NRO, Chief of the Hydrology and Meteorology Branch 2 in the Division of Site Safety and Environmental Analysis in NRO, Chief of Human Performance, Operator Licensing and ITAAC Branch, in DCIP in NRO, Executive Technical Assistant to the NRC's Executive Director for Operations focusing on both technical and corporate offices, Deputy Director of the Futures Team, and Deputy Assistant for Operations in the Office of the Executive Director for Operations. Ms. Rivera-Varona received a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus and is a graduate of the NRC's Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program and Leadership Potential Program.
