Health Physics Questions and Answers - Question 46

Question 46: Will determination of the "eye dose equivalent," at a tissue depth of 300 mg/square cm, be included in the NVLAP personnel dosimetry accreditation program?

Answer: Not until ANSI N13.11, which defines the testing program used in the NVLAP accreditation program, is revised to include tests for the 300 mg/square cm depth and this revised standard is adopted by the NVLAP program. (Note: Requirements under the old Part 20 include the determination of the dose to the eye at a tissue depth of 300 mg/square cm. See Instructions for Preparation of NRC Form 5, Item 5.)
