Resolution of Generic Safety Issues: Issue 42: Combination Primary/Secondary System LOCA (Rev. 1) ( NUREG-0933, Main Report with Supplements 1–35 )

DESCRIPTION

AEOD issued a memorandum446 in which a potential safety issue involving combined primary and secondary system LOCAs was raised. The issue was discussed at Commission meetings on October 16, 1980 and on November 10, 1980. NRR informed AEOD of the results of the then current status of the staff's evaluation.36 In SECY-82-296,432 the staff recommended to the Commission that this issue not be classified as an USI and that the issue could be adequately handled by ongoing reviews. This issue is identical to Issue 18 which is being implemented as part of TMI Action Plan Item I.C.1 clarified in NUREG-0737.98
