Introduction

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) holds approximately 800 public meetings per year to help the public understand the important work we do and why we do it. This brochure presents the NRC’s public meeting policy and procedures that emphasize enhancement of public participation. Our current policy divides public meetings into three categories: observation, information, and comment gathering.

The information in this brochure applies only to NRC staff-sponsored meetings. This brochure will help you prepare to attend an NRC public meeting. It will also help you understand each meeting type, learn how you can participate, and provide examples of each meeting type.
