NRC NAMES NEW RESIDENT INSPECTOR AT THE PORTSMOUTH GASEOUS DIFFUSION PLANT
Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in Lisle, Illinois, have announced the assignment of Steve Caudill as an NRC Resident Inspector at the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Piketon, Ohio.
The plant, which processes uranium for its use as fuel in commercial nuclear power plants, is operated by the U.S. Enrichment Corporation and owned by the U.S. Department of Energy. The NRC has two full-time resident inspectors at the plant.
Caudill, an NRC employee since 1991, began his duties at the plant December 18. Before his recent assignment, he worked in the NRC's headquarters office in Rockville, Maryland, as a nuclear material control and accounting inspector.
Prior to joining the NRC, Caudill worked in the Engineering Department at Browning Manufacturing in Maysville, Kentucky. He earned a bachelor's degree in physics from Georgetown College. Caudill and his wife Usha live in Portsmouth, Ohio.
Caudill joins Senior Resident Inspector David Hartland at the Portsmouth plant. They can be reached at (740) 289-3353.
