NRC MEETING AT SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR PLANT POSTPONED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials have announced postponement of a public meeting scheduled at 4:00 p.m. today at the San Onofre nuclear generating station (SONGS) due to inclement weather in Dallas, Texas, which has prevented NRC Region IV officials from flying to the California site.

The meeting had been scheduled at the request of SONGS officials to discuss the safety-conscious work environment at the site.

NRC officials at the agency's Region IV office in Arlington, Texas, said the meeting will be rescheduled, and another announcement will be issued. The public will be invited to observe, and NRC officials will be available at the conclusion of the rescheduled meeting to answer questions from interested observers.

EDITORS NOTE: The contacts for more information on this news release are listed at the NRC's Region II office in Atlanta. This is because the Region IV office at Arlington, Texas, is closed today due to weather.
