NOTE TO EDITORS: ACRS MEETINGS AT TWO SEPARATE LOCATIONS

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) has scheduled meetings of three of its subcommittees at two separate locations.

The subcommittee on planning and procedures will meet on June 1 in Rockville, Maryland. The subcommittees on plant operations and on fire protection will meet jointly on June 23 in King of Prussia, Pennslyvania, at the agency's Region I office.

The planning and procedures subcommittee will discuss proposed ACRS activities and the status of a new appointment to the committee. The meeting will begin at 1:00 p.m. in room T-2B1 of the agency's Two White Flint North Building at 11545 Rockville Pike.

The subcommittees on plant operations and on fire protection will meet on June 23 to discuss plant performance reviews and challenges posed by the revised NRC reactor oversight program, as well as results of the fire protection functional inspections. The meeting in Region I will be held at 8:30 a.m., at 475 Allendale Road, in the Public Meeting Room.

Other aspects of the meetings, including opportunities for public comment, will be described in a forthcoming edition of the Federal Register.
