NOTE TO EDITORS:
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will meet with officials of Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company on Monday afternoon, August 3, to discuss a recent event during the reactor system decontamination at the Haddam Neck nuclear plant in Haddam, Conn.
The event involved a spill of approximately 1,000 gallons of water and chemical agents used for decontamination onto the floor of the Primary Auxiliary Building and into the floor drain system. The company will discuss the root causes of the event, the corrective actions it has taken, and its readiness to proceed with the next phase of the decontamination of the permanently shutdown facility.
The meeting at the Connecticut Yankee Energy Information Center, 362 Injun Hollow Road in East Hampton, Conn., begins at 2:00 p.m. It is open to the public for observation.
