Enclosed is the Interim Report on the analysis of the Harness/Positive

Plate Lug Disconnect discovered in the Lucent Technologies Inc.  List 1S

Round Cell Battery.  Also enclosed is the associated Report of Discovery,

which was documented on March 3, 1997.



Per the analysis outlined in the Interim Report, Lucent expects the

Evaluation Report to be completed by May 29, 1997.  The Evaluation Report

will be forwarded to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission consistent with

the requirements outlined in Part 21 of Title 10 of Chapter 1 of the Code

of Federal Regulations.
