- 10 CFR PART 21 REPORT ON OVER-STRESSED CRANE AUXILIARY HOIST   

CONDITION -                                                      

                                                                 

WHITING CORPORATION IN HARVEY, ILLINOIS, HAS NOTIFIED CERTAIN    

NUCLEAR CUSTOMERS OF AN OVER-STRESSED CONDITION ON THE AUXILIARY 

HOIST OF ONE OF ITS CRANES.  WHITING IS RECOMMENDING THAT THE    

AUXILIARY HOIST BE TAKEN OUT OF SERVICE OR DERATED TO 40% OF THE 

ORIGINAL RATED CAPACITY UNTIL FURTHER EVALUATION AND CORRECTIONS 

CAN BE MADE BEFORE USE.  THE MAIN HOIST IS NOT AFFECTED BY THIS  

CONDITION AND CAN CONTINUE TO BE USED WITHOUT RESTRICTION.       

                                                                 

THE FOLLOWING NUCLEAR PLANTS MAY BE AFFECTED BY THIS CONDITION:  

SUMMER, SOUTH TEXAS, ZION, SALEM, COOK, OYSTER CREEK, THREE MILE 

ISLAND, SEABROOK, INDIAN POINT-2, INDIAN POINT-3, HATCH, FARLEY, 

AND VOGTLE.
