Discussion:

This information is current as of 9:00 a.m. (EST) on March 26, 2004. Davis-Besse completed its maintenance outage to repair feed water and steam line turbine bypass valves and recommenced start-up activities. The plant is currently in Mode 2 at normal operating temperature and pressure. The plant entered Mode 2 at 3:07 a.m. this morning, March 26, achieved criticality at 4:56 a.m., and is continuing with power ascension activities.

Ongoing resident inspector coverage, and enhanced inspection oversight will continue to be utilized to evaluate operational evolutions. Around-the-clock oversight, with NRC resident inspector and examiner support from Region III and other Regional Offices, was re-initiated on March 25 at 4:00 p.m., and will continue during operational evolutions until full power routine operations are achieved.
