Subject: TVA BOARD APPROVES BROWNS FERRY UNIT 1 RECOVERY AND LICENSE
         EXTENTION FOR ALL THREE UNITS


Discussion:

On May 16, 2002, TVA Board of Directors approved the return of Browns
Ferry Unit 1, to service and authorized TVA Nuclear staff to request the
NRC for a 20 year extension of all three Unit's operating licenses.  The
Unit 1 recovery plan is estimated to take approximately five years.
