Subject: SOUTHERN NUCLEAR ANNOUNCES PERSONNEL CHANGES AT THE CORPORATE
         HEADQUARTERS AND AT THE FARLEY SITE


Discussion:

Effective Friday February 8, 2002, Richard Hill, corporate Nuclear
Support General Manager, Farley Project, has been named as the corporate
Nuclear Technical Services General Manager. Mr. Hill will replace George
Bockhold, who will retire effective April 1, 2002. Mr. Hill was
previously the Farley Plant General Manager from 1992 to 1998.

Mike Stinson, Farley Plant General Manager (PGM), has been named as the
corporate Nuclear Support General Manager, Farley Project. Mr. Stinson
has been at Farley since 1972, and has been the PGM since 1998.

Don Grissette has been named as the new Farley PGM. Mr. Grissette has
been at Farley since 1980. He was previously the Assistant General
Manager (AGM) - Support. A replacement AGM - Support has not yet been
named.
