Subject: D.C. COOK UNIT 2 SYNCHRONIZATION TO GRID

Discussion:

On June 25, 2000, at 4:16 a.m. (EDT), with the Unit 2 reactor at 9
percent power, plant operators closed the main generator output breaker
and connected the electrical output of the generator to American Electric
Power Company's transmission grid. The licensee encountered no
significant equipment problems. NRC inspectors were onsite monitoring
control room activities and have been observing all of the major
evolutions. The licensee began a controlled ascension to full power,
which includes several hold points for testing and monitoring of plant
equipment.
